Facilities
The Burton 4-H Center is located on a 6-acre hammock surrounded by acres of salt marsh at the end of Lewis Avenue on Tybee Island, Georgia. Tybee Island is the northernmost barrier island in Georgia. Connected to the mainland by Highway 80, Tybee Island is approximately 15 miles east of the historic town of Savannah, Georgia.
Grounds
Burton 4-H Center’s gated boundaries are clearly defined by the surrounding salt marshlands. A campfire ring, basketball court, volleyball court, shaded picnic tables and a small gazebo are all centrally located for easy and effective free-time supervision. For a more reflective time, groups can enjoy the boardwalk that leads over the salt marsh.
Buildings
We have several dormitories, a dining hall with a full kitchen, campfire ring, classroom and meetings spaces and a screened recreation hall. Our recreation hall (which is not climate controlled), classrooms (A-frame and Biltmore are climate controlled), and enclosed dining hall porch (climate controlled), dining hall (we do not rent out our kitchen) can be rented for meetings.

Dining Hall
For groups above a certain size (40 person minimum), we can be hired to provide meal service during our August-May season. We do not rent out our kitchen.
Dormitories
Our housing is basic dormitory-style; you will need to bring your own bedding (sheets and blankets or a sleeping bag), pillow, towels, washcloths, and soap. We provide housing only. No services are provided. The dormitories are climate-controlled block buildings with 8-26 bunk beds (depending on dorm). Each dormitory bathroom has flush toilets, sinks, and shower stalls. Each dorm also has a small private room and bath for two adults.
Dormitories are assigned according to the attendance numbers listed on the contract. Males and females are housed in separate dorms. Each dorm must have an adult chaperone for youth organizations. We do not have accommodations for professional bus drivers. Note:Â No food or drinks are allowed in the dormitories.
Due to the numbers of children we have here, we cannot allow pets or alcoholic beverages in the camp.
