Facility Rental

Are you looking for the perfect place to host your next group event? We offer facility rentals when we are not in use by 4-H summer camp and school environmental education groups.   Located 11 miles north of Dahlonega and bordered by the Chattahoochee National forest, Wahsega is the ideal rustic retreat. From scout groups and youth groups looking to learn more about the environment, to sorority groups looking for a glamping adventure, to large families looking for the perfect spot to hold their reunion, if you’re looking for a peaceful mountain setting with rustic accommodations and plenty of outdoor space, Wahsega has everything you need.

Our Facilities

Our beautiful historic cabins can accommodate up to 200 people.  Two cabins have their own bathrooms, while the other 14 cabins are served by boy’s and girl’s bath houses.  You will need to bring your own bedding (sheets and blankets or a sleeping bag), pillow, towels, and soap. We provide housing only. No linen services are provided.   We have plenty of pristine outdoor space, hiking trails, a large field and fire rings onsite for your group to use.   Two indoor classrooms and a large recreation hall are also available for your group.

Meals

Wahsega’s dining hall is one of the properties original buildings dating back to the time when Wahsega was a base camp for the Civilian Conservation Corps.  We have a full kitchen staff available to serve your group three meals a day.  The kitchen staff at Wahsega makes everyone feel welcome at our family’s table. The kitchen is, after all, a family’s gathering place.  We work diligently to accommodate our guests with dietary restrictions.  From providing a vegetarian option to providing a restriction specific meal, our dining hall ensures our guests are comfortable and well fed.  Please communicate your dietary needs and we will do our best to meet them.  And just like at grandma’s house, adult guests will be glad that the coffee pot is always on and a selection of herbal and black teas are available as well.

There is no kitchen to use to prepare your own meals.  But we do have a regular sized fridge with freezer in pavilion 4  and we have several charcoal grills and campfire rings.

Programming

Let us facilitate a little fun for your group during your stay at Wahsega.  Our instructor led classes provide a great way to learn more about the beautiful environment surrounding your group.  If you’re a more adventurous bunch, we offer three different high ropes elements and team building activities that are sure to get your heart rate up a bit  Some popular activities include:

  • Zip Line
  • Climbing wall
  • Flying squirrel
  • Team building–Learn to work together by playing together through out challenge courses.
  • Archery–Channel your inner Katniss and pull back the bow.
  • Stream Ecology–Wade in Ward creek and learn about the life you find there.
  • Herpetology–Meet the animals in our herpetology lab and learn more about them.

Day Groups

What if I’d like to bring a group for just the day? Of course, we’d love to have you experience Wahsega if only for a day. Your group will have access to the grounds, trails, pavilions, and creek.  Other options include renting the Rec Hall, classroom or Dining Hall.   During summer, it is even possible to swim in Pollywog Pond if a Wahsega Lifeguard is available.
