Operation Purple Camp at the Wahsega 4-H Center is a FREE camping program offered to 8-13 year-old dependents of all military service branches. This five-day, four-night camp will take place at Wahsega 4-H Center in the beautiful North Georgia mountains. Youth will learn about the native wildlife including fish, insects, amphibians, and reptiles. Participants will also experience high adventure elements on the Wahsega climbing wall, flying squirrel, and zip line and other outdoor skills like archery and wilderness survival. Woven throughout the camp experience are opportunities to connect with other military youth through free time, arts and crafts, cabin chats, campfires, group time, swimming, and team challenges. Come connect with others at Wahsega 4-H Center!
This experience provides an exciting opportunity for youth to connect with other military youth. While at camp, youth will learn about the Georgia mountain ecosystems (stream ecology and forestry), play outdoor sports, swim in the freshwater pond and falls, and participate in team challenges. Specifically, activities will engage youth in self-responsibility, decision-making in team challenges, citizenship in the flag raising and lowering, and problem-solving in environmental education courses.
The Wahsega 4-H Center is situated near the rustic cabins (bunkbed lodging) are a stream, pond, and a waterfall. This camp provides youth with places to reflect and engage with others. The pavilions, outdoor classroom spaces, outdoor amphitheater, and nature trails provide a safe outdoor learning environment for this military-connected audience.
