Coastal Georgia 4-H Military Adventure Camp



The Coastal Georgia 4-H Military Adventure Camp is a weekend camp for youth with a parent currently serving in the military, with priority being given to Air Force families. Hosted at UGA Marine Extension on Skidaway Island (near Savannah, Georgia), participants will have he opportunity to learn about marine creatures, tour the aquarium and touch tanks, hike through the maritime forests, complete a dolphin study, stargaze, and more! Due to UGA Marine Extension requirements, youth must be in grades 5-8 for the 2019-2020 school year.

The camp begins with check in on Friday, 9 August 2019 from 7:00-7:30PM. Campers should eat dinner before they arrive. A light evening snack will be provided. All meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday will be provided. Lodging will be hotel-style dorm rooms with 2 bunk beds per room. Males and females will be housed separately. Pick up will be on Sunday, 11 August 2019 from 9:30-10:00AM.

Application Process

Due to dormitory space, participation will be limited. The online application system will open on 24 May 2019. All correspondence will be via e-mail provided in the application. You will receive notification no later than 1 August 2019 if you have been selected or chosen as an alternate.

Camp Costs

Once you receive notification that you have been selected as a camper, you will have to pay a $20 acceptance fee (online via debit/credit card) in order to hold your spot by 15 July 2019. All other costs (activities, food, lodging, etc.) are included. Parents will be responsible for getting their camper(s) to/from UGA Marine Extension on Skidaway Island. Transportation costs are not included.


To be eligible to attend the Coastal Georgia 4-H Military Adventure Camp, you must:

  • have a parent currently serving or retired from the military. Priority goes to youth with a parent serving in the Air Force, Air National Guard, or Air Force Reserve.
  • Be enrolled in grades 5-8 for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • Attest that all information is truthful and accurate.
  • Pay the $20 acceptance fee by 15 July 2019.
  • Complete and return all necessary paperwork (Code of Conduct, Medical Information, etc.) by 1 August 2019.

  • If you do not have an account with Georgia 4-H, first you will have to create a user account.  The account creation procedure is a 3 part process:
    • Select ’Create Account for Parent’ from the left-hand menu and fill out the form. You will receive an email with an account activation code.
    • Click the link included in the email and paste the code into the form.
    • Enter your preferred password
  • Once your account is created, select the appropriate event: 2019 Coastal Georgia 4-H Military Adventure Camp.
  • Click the insert link on the left-hand menu to get to the application form.
  • More than one youth participant can apply using the same account.
