Scholarship and Awards Recipients
Georgia Master 4-H Club exists to promote 4-H programs by supporting projects, funding scholarships for deserving students, and recognizing outstanding service. During the lastyear, recognition and funding was given to these exceptional people.
The 2008 Master 4-H Scholarship recipients were as follows: Brittani Kelley of Rockdale County received the Bess Cabannis Scholarship. Jami Lyn Medley of Colquitt County received the Pinckney Scholarship. Kasey Bozeman of Pike County received the Martha Harrison Jones Scholarship. Samantha Tankersley of Tift County received the Master 4-H Scholarship. These scholarships were each $1,000.
At the annual meeting held at Rock Eagle on June 21, 2008, Additional, Honorary, and Outstanding Masters were recognized. A nomination and selection process determined the recipients.
Additional Master Member recognition goes to someone who had an outstanding 4-H career but was never a state contest winner. The recipients and their county when a 4-Her were Judy Bland of Taylor County, Vanessa Bolden of Bleckley County, Matt Christopher of Cherokee County, Kathy Floyd of Bartow County, Henry Hibbs of Bulloch County, and Nancy Grace of Bibb County.
Honorary Master Member recognition goes to someone who is not a former 4-Her but has contributed to the success of the 4-H program at the county, district, or state level. The recipients and their current positions were Mike Dollar, Evans County Extension Coordinator; Elaine Kimble, Technology Paraprofessional Newton County High School; Matthew Permar, The Islander Newspaper Co-Owner/Editor of Brunswick; and Jim Retter with Ace Hardware in Social Circle.
Outstanding Master 4-H Member recognition goes to someone who has made significant contributions to the Master 4-H Club program. The 2008 recipient was June Bentley Hagin of Buena Vista.
