Georgia Beef Cattle Exhibitors “Youth Leadership” Scholarship

We are incredibly pleased to offer this opportunity for 12th grade exhibitors in the 2024 Georgia Junior National Livestock Heifer and Market Beef Show. A minimum of five (5) scholarships will be awarded. Recipients of these scholarships will be announced during the Georgia Junior National Livestock Show.

We are looking for hard-working, dedicated students who embody the standards of excellence demonstrated in both 4-H and FFA Beef Cattle projects. We need your help identifying these young people and selecting a recipient for this year’s scholarships. The scholarship is a cash award in the amount of $500. Details are explained in the attached “Statement of Scholarship Agreement” sheet. Applicants must be graduating from high school in the spring of 2024. Enclosed is an application form which must be signed by the student’s County Extension Agent and/or Agricultural Education Teacher. The signing teacher or agent must also attach a letter of recommendation. The completed application and letters of recommendation must be emailed to Carole Knight (clh@uga.edu ) no later than 5:00 PM on January 26, 2024.

Guthrie Dairy Youth Leadership Award 

We are incredibly pleased to announce the Guthrie Dairy Youth Leadership Award again. This cash award (max amount $500.00) will be given annually to 4-H or FFA members involved in youth dairy programs or activities who need financial assistance to participate in workshops, conferences, field days, or any other dairy-related activities that would enhance their leadership abilities. Examples of these programs are Junior Dairy Breed Association Activities, Southeast Dairy Youth Retreat, or any other dairy-related program where leadership can be developed. Exhibiting your Dairy Heifer Project is not considered a qualifying program for this scholarship. Depending on the number of deserving applicants and the availability of funds, consideration may be given to awarding more than one scholarship.

Enclosed is an application form which must be signed by the student’s County Extension Agent and/or Agricultural Education Teacher. GFB Foundation for Agriculture Scholarships

  • The GFB Foundation for Agriculture assists outstanding students who plan to pursue a career focusing on agriculture and who exhibit leadership skills for active involvement in the agricultural sector.  There are numerous scholarship opportunities available on their website. https://www.gafoundationag.org/scholarships
  • This scholarship is handled through the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture.
  • Deadline: March 1, 2024.

 

B Frank Strickland Scholarship for ABAC

  • In 2002, a scholarship was established by GFB and the Georgia Commodity Commission for Tobacco at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Foundation in memory of the late B. Frank Strickland, Sr., a Lanier County farmer and a devoted advocate for tobacco farmers.  The $,1000 B. Frank Strickland Scholarship is available for an entering freshman or rising sophomore from a tobacco-producing county who plans to attend ABAC fall semester. The scholarship will be paid at the beginning of the fall semester by the ABAC Foundation. Application deadline is rolling – may apply at any time.
