How do I join?
Join 4-H as a member or a leader by contacting your local County Extension Office. A complete list of Extension office email addresses and phone numbers can be found at the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Personnel Directory. A University of Georgia Faculty or staff member will help you pursue involvement in your county and access to the world of opportunities in 4-H. Select from more than 50 project areas, participate in any of hundreds of events, apply for scholarships, travel around the world. Your county extension 4-H office is the door of opportunity for you.
Membership guidelines for students:
Any person, regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, or disability may enroll as a 4-H member.
Youth who are below age nine and are more than five years of age on or before January 1, of the current year, may enroll in special 4- H Cloverbud or Cloversprout groups in counties where this option is available. (Note that not all counties offer the Cloverbud program. Check with your local extension office.) There also are opportunities in several 4-H Animal Projects for pre club members. Youth who are nine years of age and have not reached their nineteenth birthday on or before January 1, of the current year may enroll in 4-H clubs and groups.
Persons considered to be mentally challenged may participate fully in the 4-H program regardless of age with special permission originating with their county agent and being approved by the State 4-h leader.
4-H typically does not charge dues or require uniforms. However, there may be fees associated with certain events and programs.
Adult Volunteer leaders are welcome and needed in all county programs. A registration form and certification process is available in all county extension offices.
