The 2012 Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championship will be hosted
by Georgia 4-H Cooperative Extension Service and the University of
Georgia's
Animal and Dairy Science Department at the Georgia
National
Fairgrounds and
Agricenter in Perry, GA from Wednesday August 1st through Sunday August 5th.
This show rotates across the 13-state southern region, which
includes
Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana,
Mississippi,
North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee,
Texas and
Virginia.
The Championship Event consists of the following events: |
| Educational Competitions - August 1-2, 2012 |
| Hippology |
The objective is to provide an opportunity for youth enrolled in
4-H to demonstrate the breadth of their knowledge and understanding of quuine science and management, and in particular, the practical application of this knowledge and skill. |
Horse Bowl
|
The objective is to provide an opportunity for youth enrolled in
4-H horse projects to demonstrate their knowledge of equine-related subject matter in a competitive setting, where attitudes of friendliness and fairness prevail. |
| Horse Judging |
Allows an opportunity for youth enrolled in 4-H the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of judging conformation and performance classes of a variety of breeds and disciplines. |
| Public Speaking |
Allows youth enrolled in 4-H to ustilize their knowledge and understanding of a specific equite-related topic, and present that topic verbally without the assistance of visual aides. |
| Individual Demonstration |
Provides an opportunity for youth enrolled in 4-H to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of a specific equine-related topic, and present that topic individualy to an audience. |
| Team Demonstration |
Provides an opportunity for youth enrolled in 4-H to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of a specific equine-related topic, and present that topic with a partner to an audience. |
