Cheryl Varnadoe has been a 4-H professional for over 26 years. Cheryl was an active Seminole County 4-H’er for 9 years.  She is a Master 4-H’er and was a District winner in Fashion Revue, Poultry Judging, Land Judging, Cotton Boll, Business Exploration, and Leadership. 

She served as a 4-H summer camp counselor for five summers at both Rock Eagle and Burton 4-H Centers, serving as Captain at Burton in 1982. She was also involved in Collegiate 4-H at both ABAC and UGA.

Cheryl’s degrees include the Associate in Home Economics Education Degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and the Bachelor of Science in Home Economics Education – Extension from the University of Georgia. She also holds her Masters of Education Degree from the University of Georgia.

She began her professional career in 1984 and served as the 4-H Youth Agent in Columbus/ Muscogee County for 10 years. During that time, she had over thirty
4-H’ers achieve Master 4-H status including three National 4-H winners and a Presidential Tray winner.

Since 1994, she has been a member of the State 4-H Faculty. She first served as the 4-H Program Development Specialist for Northwest District 4-H and North Region
4-H events coordinator. Since 1999, she has served as the 4-H Specialist for Marketing, Communications and Family and Consumer Science.  Cheryl is a Senior Public Service Associate.

Cheryl’s responsibilities include Clovers & Co. (she loves singing / performing and has performed all her life), the Youth Technology Leadership Team, Health Rocks, Cotton Boll and Consumer Jamboree, all other Family and Consumer Science related projects, marketing 4-H, internet and Social networking safety, cyberbullying prevention, cybercitizenship, emerging technology for 4-H use and numerous other projects, activities and competitions. She served as one of the authors of the National 4-H publication on Bullying prevention which is now offered for sale by National 4-H Council and represented National 4-H at the Federal Partners in Bullying Prevention Conference recently.

Cheryl is actively involved in GAE4-HA and NAE4-HA.  She is a past President of GAE4-HA and has previously served on the NAE4-HA Board as National Policy and Resolutions Chair as well as the chair of the NAE4-HA Public Relations and Information Committee. She also chaired the Marketing Committee for the NAE4-HA 2007 Conference held in Atlanta attended by 1400 4-H professionals from across the nation.

When asked about 4-H, Cheryl always replies, “My blood truly does run green!”  Cheryl also considers those whom she met in 4-H her best friends today.
